1-year Triathlon Anniversary

Sunday marked my one year anniversary for the love-hate relationship for triathlons. As I promised in this post, I am happy to report that I am actually getting better at doing them. :-)

This race consists of a 300m pool swim, a 20k bike ride (about 12.4 mi) and a 5k run (3.1 mi).

2006 Recap:
Swim - 7:47
T1 - 3:03
Bike - 39:38
T2 - 0:55
Run - 27:25
Total Time - 1:18:26
Age Group Finish - 10th out of 25
Overall Finish - 57th out of 143 (females)

2007 Results:
Swim - 6:33
T1 - 1:53
Bike - 37:14
T2 - 1:16
Run - 24:25
Total Time - 1:11:20
Age Group Finish - 5th out of 26
Overall Finish - 27th out of 196 (females)

I think this race will be on my list of 'annual' races. It's run very well and in a convenient location.

Next race up - the Draper Mile. One mile of sprinting pain. Last year I was able to complete it in 6:09. I wonder if I have it in me to get sub-6??? Kev is on target to complete it in less than 7. I hope he pulls through on race day! :-)

Patiently Waiting

Over the past couple of weeks I have been waiting for my odometer in my car to read 100,000 miles. It’s one of those things you just want to be able to witness. It seems like every time I am in my car I forget about it. I will just happen to look down at my speed or something and notice the odometer. Every time I think to myself, man I have to remember to look at this thing every time I get in the car so I don’t miss it!

Today was a normal rushed morning for the Minnick household. Even more so this time since Kev had to take his jeep into the shop last night, so I was doing the driving this morning. We also woke up late, which I am sure had nothing to do with a late night episode of Deadwood and an excellent bottle of chardonnay by Veritas.

As usual, I get in my car and start driving, not even noticing the odometer. It wasn’t until we drove all the way to Blacksburg to drop the kids off at school that I even thought about looking down at it.

It’s a good thing I did.
