yay! i am happy to report that i did survive my second cycling class. and just as the instructor said, it's much better with the gel seat. haha. i was amazed at how fast the time went by. they should make shirts that say, "i survived my cycling class" or something. :-)

and thank you jil for ridin' with me this morning!! i guess we have to go back next friday so we can win at bingo!! (if you can stay longer, we can hit the track for a mile!)

time to run!

it's finally official......the elite registration system has my money to participate in the 1/2 marathon in nashville. yikes!!

hardest question on the sign-up page:
What is your predicted finish time?

they didn't have a choice greater than 4 hours. haha. my goal is 2:10.

gonna do it

my newly made friend has convinced me to take her cycling class tomorrow at 6am. she assures me that it will be fun. i can't wait to see what her definition of "fun" really means. although there are rumors that they are going to play bingo.....not quite sure how that's going to work. anyone else interested in joining me?? they have gel seats!!! haha ;-)

Get To Know Your Instructor(s)

After coping with the flu bug on Sunday and half of Monday, I got back into my "normal" routine of the gym at 6am. Believe it or not, it feels good to be back at it. And even better is that I have actually introduced myself to two of my instructors. One of them I see on Mondays and actually have direct contact with her via email because she does the books for TWC. So we are always emailing each other about who should be on the corporate account, etc. This girl is FIT. One of my co-workers says that she is in her mid-40's and it's so amazing to see how built this lady is for her age. She does NOT look it at all. I heard she was a heavy-duty runner too.

As for the other one, she came up to me today and introduced herself to me and had mentioned that she has seen me come to her class for the past 2 weeks. I was like yeah, trying to get into shape, you know. She's rather fit too (imagine that) but she has to be one of the friendliest people I know. I would suspect that being friendly is hard to do when you put your class through workout-hell. At least I would have trouble being nice, haha. But anyhow, she was telling me all sorts of stuff about workouts, etc. She even gave me a huge tip about the cycling class that she teaches.....they have gel pads!! Now that might help out, maybe I will give the class another try. ;-)

So anyhow, it's nice to know that the instructors notice you and that you are not just some anonymous person in a class. I feel like they are training me personally, pushing me to reach my goals. The next time you are in a gym class, get to know your instructor(s), they are human after all.

Friday the 13th

I couldn't figure out why things haven't gone my way this morning until during my weightlifting class the instructor informed us that is was Friday the 13th. That must be the reason! (Then again, how much could possibly go wrong between 5am and 8am???) geesh....

Test Run

My good friend (and co-worker) Vinny let me borrow his Nano so that I could do a test run with it this morning......and I am in love with it! I can't get over the size, it's amazingly small. As I am playing around with cool gadget I find two things that make me want to go out buy one right now.

I don't know how many people remember the game Alleyway for Gameboy, but this is my all-time favorite video game (next to the original version of Atari's Dungeons & Dragons and Nintendo's Legend of Zelda, of course). It's so mindless, but fun! Apple has created a similar type of game for the iPod called Brick. This game alone is worth the cost! (well...maybe not!)

The other feature that I found was the Stopwatch. This one is pretty good! It also has a lap (or split) feature so that you can time laps while keeping track of your entire time as well. And the best part that I liked is that it gives you a summary when you are finished, which is saved until you delete it. So, I put this to the test this morning while running at TWC. I guess the feature was pretty encouraging because I did 3 miles without too much hesitation.

According to the stopwatch my splits for the miles were:
9:26
8:55
10:08 (i think, on this one, can't remember exactly)

Not too shabby for a big girl! ;-)

Resolutions

i am sure all of us have a few resolutions or two for the new year. one of mine, along with the rest of america, is to lose weight. i think the excuse 'i just had a baby' has been used long enough. :-(

my main reason for this resolution is because i am in a wedding later this year. so i thought i would come up with a few motivations to lose the weight.

15 pound down - massage (it was actually a gift from my mom at christmas)
25 pounds down (i wish i had this now!!)
35 pounds down
45 pounds down

and finally...

55 pounds - this is actually a secret....hehe....only one other person knows about it. ;-)

today is day 7 of my "wellness" challenge and i am happy to report that i am down 5.2 pounds!

oh, and btw, for those of my co-workers who are crying that there is actually someone challenging them for the $50 gift card for the company workout challenge you can HAVE the $50.....i got better gifts comin'!!
